Joseph L. Adamson
Joseph L. Adamson was an active member of HFMA for over 30 years and was one of the first vendors to join HFMA. Joe was a partner in the collection agency, Diversified Account Systems, and a frequent sponsor of HFMA activities. His firm was the first to sponsor the Prayer Breakfast - an activity that was very important to Joe. Joe grew up on a small farm just south of Atlanta in Morrow, Georgia He later worked his way through Emory University and Atlanta Law School , sold cookware, fried eggs at the Waffle House, did a little bit of everything and eventually opened his business with partner, Jon Dunn, in his hometown of Morrow. Joe was very active in his community, especially with the American Caner Society, the Chamber of Commerce, Clayton State College, Morrow First Baptist Church , Kiwanis International, the Optimists' Club and other civic organizations. He was a highly respected fixture in the community for much of his life. Joe fought cancer for 13 years, but drew strength from his spiritual beliefs. He never let his illness cause him to change his personal side of his life and he lived every minute to the best of his ability given the circumstances. He was an inspiration to all of those who knew him, and sometimes he counseled others also suffering from cancer. Joe was happy to see the Prayer Breakfast become a regular feature at HFMA meetings, and he and his wife, Dolorese, encouraged everyone they knew to attend. This memorial was established as an honor to Joseph L. Adamson when the Board voted to name the Prayer Breakfast after him following his death in 1989. It has been continued every year since then in his tradition. Joseph L. Adamson was an active member of HFMA for over 30 years and was one of the first vendors to join HFMA.
