June 3, 2002, Atlanta, Georgia… Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Georgia Chapter invites students pursuing a career in healthcare financial management to apply for the $1,500.00 annual O.J. Booker Scholarship Award. Nominees for the scholarship are selected from students of the highest academic standing in the financial fields who expect to enter the healthcare financial management industry.

“As healthcare and technological innovations and world events continue to shape the industry, our mission as an organization is to prepare for the future,” says Cynthia Perley, CPA, president of the HFMA Georgia Chapter. “This scholarship is but one way we support educational and career growth to meet the increasing demands for qualified managers within the healthcare industry.”

The HFMA Georgia Chapter recognizes recipients at their annual conference in May and has done so since 1987, when the scholarship was established. To join the HFMA Georgia Chapter and apply for the scholarship, visit www.georgiahfma.org. Full-time students may join for $35 through October 2002 or $18 from November 2002 – May 2003. Nominations should include name, address, and phone number, place of employment, HFMA member or relationship, degree/program pursuing, college/school, and supporting statements for nomination.

The HFMA Georgia Chapter was founded on June 3, 1955. The Chapter began with 25 members and now includes 1230 members and approximately 45 corporate sponsors. Their mission is to enhance healthcare financial management through development, education, information, networking and leadership.
