Payer Response to COVID-19Bill Eikost, Georgia Chapter Past President and SVP of Business Development at Nemadji, reached out to his Payer Forum contacts at the major payers in Georgia for an update on how this situation has impacted them. Most all of them said they are operating as “business as usual”.
As of Wednesday, March 25th:
Anthem / Blue Cross are up and running without any issues right now. They encouraged providers to use the online resources that are available to them as there may be longer than normal wait times to talk to a representative.
United Healthcare is “business as usual” and to use their online resources.
Palmetto GBA is not experiencing any issues right now. Providers should check for updates on their website. They are taking their direction from CMS.
Medicaid(DXC Technologies) so far has posted two banner messages on their portal. There has been some info about the waivers.
Bill will continue to reach out to some of the smaller payers for their feedback. Bill reminds us that everyone is adjusting every day to the demands and the changes this has presented. Providers are encouraged to reach out to HFMA Georgia Chapter, Georgia Hospital Association, and Bill Eikost (HFMA Georgia Chapter Past President and Payer Forum Moderator) with any concerns they have about how the payers are responding to their needs during this time.
Everyone stay well and be safe!
